Complete ZentBuy Shopping Guide
This is the end-to-end walkthrough: everything between deciding you want something and opening the box at home. If you only want the mechanics of searching this site's database, read the ZentBuy spreadsheet tutorial instead — this guide is about the whole order.
Before you start
You need three things: a ZentBuy account, a funded balance, and a shortlist of products. None of it takes long.
1. Create the account
Sign up here. Registration is free and drops a 40% shipping discount coupon for new accounts (shown on the homepage) into your wallet — check the terms, because that coupon should shape how you ship your first haul.
2. Understand what you will pay
As of September 2026, ZentBuy advertises 0% markup on the item price — you pay what the Chinese seller charges, with no service fee added on top. That is ZentBuy's own claim about the item price, not about the total: international shipping, payment-processing fees and any import duty are billed separately. The current terms are on the ZentBuy site. On top of that sits domestic shipping inside China (usually a small amount), international shipping by weight, and any import duty your country charges. QC photos are free and storage is free for the first 90 days (120 days maximum), which is not true of every agent.
3. Build a shortlist
Do not order one item. Storage is free for 90 days, so plan a haul of several pieces and ship them together — consolidation is the single biggest lever on total cost.
Step 1: Find products
You have two routes.
The spreadsheet route. Browse the ZentBuy spreadsheet: a curated index of Taobao, 1688 and Weidian listings with English titles, last recorded prices, photos and a direct buy button. Filter by category, sort by price, and shortlist.
The direct route. Search Taobao, 1688 or Weidian yourself and paste the product URL into ZentBuy. More work, more coverage, more risk of a bad seller.
Most people do both: the spreadsheet for the things everyone buys, direct links for the niche stuff.
Step 2: Place the order
- Open the item in ZentBuy (the spreadsheet buy buttons do this for you)
- Select size, colour and quantity — carefully, because Chinese sizing runs small; check the size chart
- Add a note to the seller if you need a specific variant
- Check the item total — ZentBuy advertises 0% markup, so it should track the seller's price
- Add to cart and pay from your ZentBuy balance
Add roughly 10–15% more to your balance than the item total. Shipping is charged separately later, and having the funds already there avoids a second payment step.
Step 3: Wait for the warehouse
The seller ships domestically to the ZentBuy warehouse; slower over Chinese public holidays. When it arrives, the item appears in your warehouse list with its weight recorded.
What can go wrong here: the seller is out of stock, or sends the wrong variant. Both are resolved by ZentBuy support, which is why you order through an agent rather than a forwarder.
Step 4: Read the QC photos
This is the step beginners skip and regret. ZentBuy photographs every item on arrival, free, and you decide what happens next:
- Approve — the item joins your warehouse, ready to ship
- Exchange — you want a different piece from the same seller
- Return — cancel and refund
Look at shape and proportion first, then logos and text, then stitching, then materials. Compare against retail photos. Our QC photo analysis guide covers this properly, with model-specific checklists.
Rule of thumb: minor flaws that nobody will see when worn are worth approving. Wrong size, wrong colour, visible asymmetry and damage are not.
Step 5: Consolidate
Ninety days of free storage means you can let a haul accumulate over weeks. While you wait:
- Order the rest of your shortlist
- QC each piece as it lands
- Keep the shipping coupon for the final, biggest parcel
Shipping four items in one parcel instead of four is routinely a large saving on the international leg, because every parcel carries its own base charge.
Step 6: Ship
Select the items, run the estimator, pick a line, set the declaration, apply the coupon, pay.
Line choice: ZentBuy does not publish a fixed per-kilo rate table. Shipping lines and prices are quoted live in the ZentBuy Freight Estimator for your country and parcel weight. Express couriers are the fastest and most expensive; standard air lines are the balanced default; sea freight is the cheapest and slowest. Before you submit, strip weight: ask for shoe boxes to be removed, request vacuum packing on clothing, and drop any single heavy item into its own cheaper shipment.

Step 7: Track and receive
You get a tracking number. Follow it on the carrier's own site. Silent stretches of several days are normal, especially around customs. If nothing moves for 10+ days after the outbound scan, contact support.
On delivery: photograph the outer box before opening if it looks damaged, and check contents against your order the same day.
The mistakes that cost the most
Ordering one item at a time
Every shipment carries its own base cost. Five separate parcels can easily cost more in shipping than the goods.
Skipping QC
The whole advantage of an agent is inspection before shipping. Approving blind throws it away.
Guessing sizes
Chinese sizing is not Western sizing. Use the seller's own centimetre measurements, not the label size.
Declaring badly
Too low invites inspection and voids insurance value; too high pays tax you did not owe.
Wasting the new-user coupon
A 40% shipping coupon on a one-item parcel saves a few dollars. On a consolidated 4 kg haul it saves real money.
Shipping in mid-January
Chinese New Year shuts down factories and warehouses for two to three weeks. Order in December or wait until March.
